The beach at the end of Flagler Avenue is a hub of activity from sunrise and into the night. It has an incredible location, close to the many restaurants, bars and shops that line historic Flagler Avenue. It also hosts one of the busiest beach access ramps in Volusia County. That makes the relative lack of parking for such a busy beach less of an issue. By noon, the cars span a mile down the beach, with the owners and their families enjoying one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida.

Early risers may enjoy coffee by the beach, take the time to enjoy the sunrise or get in an early morning workout before the crowds arrive. Whatever your choice, the “Golden Hour” on New Smyrna Beach is always special.

During the day, people sunbathe, swim, ride bikes and “One Wheels” as well as fish, play games and simply read or walk the beach while enjoying the incredible views. Everyone unwinds in their own way, and New Smyrna Town Beach is great for it all.

Because it is a drive-on beach, this section does get fairly congested. There are always cars, golf carts, etc. driving up and down the beach. If you’d prefer a quieter beach experience, or value lots of space between you and other guests, you might want to look further south. The Canaveral National Seashore, a national park, is just south and is the longest stretch of undeveloped beach in the state of Florida at 24 miles long.

The New Smyrna Town Beach Park has several amenities besides the beach and ocean. They include a pavilion, a brick courtyard, restrooms, showers, and off-beach parking for those people that do not want to drive on the beach or pay for a permit. Also, because it is a town beach, there are always life guards on duty.

The permits for driving on the beach are $20 for daily beach entry per vehicle (one free re-entry/day/same vehicle) and annual beach passes are $25 for Volusia County residents and $100 for non-residents.
