Blackbeard’s Inn has been a family-owned New Smyrna Beach institution for over 40 years. It is consistently mentioned by locals as a go-to for seafood, steaks, prime rib and great service. If you are looking for restaurants in New Smyrna Beach, definitely put Blackbeard’s Inn on your list.
We visited Blackbeard’s on a Friday night and they were BUSY! We waited about 40 minutes for our table and enjoyed a drink (or maybe two lol) at the bar while we waited. Bartenders were quick despite being busy and we felt like they served us well. My wife started with a Pirate’s Punch cocktail that had rum and fruit juices while I had a Corona (or two). She enjoyed her cocktail and said it was just strong enough.
The inside of the restaurant is traditional and nautical with lots of wood, model ships and mounted fish on the walls. It is kind of a fisherman’s wharf feel and fits with the type of restaurant that it is. When you sit down, they start you with a nice basket filled with rolls and cinnamon rolls. For appetizers, we chose the coconut shrimp and the Cajun spiced sea scallops. Both came out piping hot and there was plenty for both of us. They were excellent! Had we read ahead though, we might have skipped the appetizers because meals come with soup and salad on top of the aforementioned rolls and cinnamon rolls. Blackbeard’s Inn gives you a ton of food, it is a good value.
For our main courses, we both went the seafood route. Blackbeard’s has a huge menu like many family seafood restaurants with all types of combinations. I had the blackened Mahi which was perfectly seasoned and prepared. My wife opted for the baked stuffed shrimp and she really enjoyed the stuffing which had great seasoning and plenty of crab meat in it. We were too full to even consider ordering dessert but did split one of the cinnamon rolls to compensate.
Blackbeard’s Inn has great food at what we thought were reasonable prices. They also have an Early Bird menu for those that they like to dine early that is quite popular. The restaurant is big with tons of parking. Our server was attentive, friendly and hustled for us. We will definitely be back!
