27th Avenue Beachfront Park
The 27th Avenue Beachfront Park is located south of New Smyrna Beach, almost near the Canaveral National Seashore. It is still near the drive-on section of the beach but is in a section that is a little quieter than the part near Flagler Avenue with all of the bars, shops, and restaurants.
The 3.4-acre park has a ton of amenities for visitors. There is a boardwalk above the beach that is great to sightsee. The kids have basketball courts, racquetball courts, and a nice playground for them to enjoy. There is a picnic area with sail shade coverings and a firepit/bonfire spot you can reserve as well. The park has plenty of clean restrooms and an outdoor shower to clean off after a day at the beach. The park also has lifeguards on duty so it is a safe destination for families to visit.
The park has a $20 parking charge, so there is a cost for all those amenities. There is also a beach access ramp right at the park if you prefer to drive and park on the beach. The permits for driving on the beach are $20 for daily beach entry per vehicle (one free re-entry/day/same vehicle) and annual beach passes are $25 for Volusia County residents and $100 for non-residents. Parking on the beach is a nice feature because it allows you to keep your food, towels, coolers, etc. nice and close, while also giving you an easy place to take a respite from the sun. The 27th Avenue Ramp is the last drive-on ramp in New Smyrna Beach, so cars are allowed to the left but not the right when you pull onto the beach.
The immediate area is not as busy as the Flagler Avenue section, but still has things to do around it. There are several restaurants in the area, and a 7-11 store across the street if you need to pick up something during your day at the beach.
The 27th Avenue Beachfront Park is a great choice for families because the facilities are clean, the beach is beautiful and there is always the playground if the kids get bored. Check it out if you are ever in New Smyrna Beach.
